On the morning of 23 September, Lyu Wenyan, Senior Architect of Tencent Cloud’s Industry Ecosystem team, and Yang Siwei, Technical Director of Shenzhen Lingyu Technology Co., Ltd., visited Guangdong Qianhai Law Firm (“Qianhai Law Firm”) for an exchange. They were received by Lan Caiming, Director of the Firm’s Management Committee; Eunice Yan, Director of the Indonesia and North Africa Desk; Yang Chunxue, Partner; and heads of the operations team. Ma Xue, Chairwoman and founder of a global investment bank, also attended.

The two sides held practical discussions on WorkBuddy, Tencent’s AI-native workbench, exploring how artificial intelligence can be deployed in legal services and how AI can be embedded across the entire legal service workflow. Lyu Wenyan gave an overview of the platform, describing WorkBuddy as an enterprise-grade AI agent workbench developed by Tencent Cloud that can participate deeply in business work. Supported by enterprise knowledge bases and a security management system, it can be adapted to legal service scenarios and provide AI support for improving quality and efficiency. She also stressed that data security is the bottom line and that the technical capabilities and compliance credentials of a major cloud provider lay a secure foundation for AI adoption by professional institutions.

The discussion focused on how AI agents can be applied in legal service scenarios. Lan Caiming, Director of the Management Committee, observed that the priority for law firms adopting AI is not internal collaboration but improving the quality of client-facing legal services through AI agents: a well-governed, controllable platform can mobilise legal resources and client know-how, while superficial applications should be avoided so that AI delivers genuine professional value.

Drawing on cross-border e-commerce practice, Eunice Yan, Director of the Indonesia and North Africa Desk, noted that AI can take on fragmented, repetitive work and help establish an “AI-first screening plus in-depth lawyer service” model, freeing lawyers from routine tasks to focus on higher-value work such as case analysis and legal solution design. Lyu Wenyan remarked that Eunice Yan exemplified the “super individual” they look for: solid professional grounding combined with an active commitment to embedding AI in practice, able to harness technology through professional judgment and turn technical capability into results. In specialist areas such as tax, Yang Chunxue, Partner, emphasised that AI must be embedded with clear knowledge provenance, clearly defined practice-liability boundaries and a clear division of labour between humans and machines, so that AI output is traceable to laws and regulations in force.

Built on the WorkBuddy platform, the firm can connect with SaaS products and hardware systems such as PKULaw (Beida Fabao), DingTalk and Feishu to establish an enterprise-grade collaboration foundation for business operations.
